Spirit of Harmony's home base has always been in the West Yorkshire area. When we began in 1993 we were based in Leeds, before moving to the Calder Valley. More recently, we took the step to move further north to Tadcaster, and for the last 2 years we have been based in Boston Spa, near Wetherby.
Over the past few months, we've been thinking hard about how we can protect the chorus for the future. We decided that the first step would be to move our rehearsal location into a vibrant community full of potential recruits, as well as other musical groups and artists.
With that in mind, we're very pleased to announce that Spirit of Harmony will be based in York, North Yorkshire, starting on 29th June 2017.
We've selected a fantastic venue for our rehearsals: the hall at the Church of the Holy Redeemer on Boroughbridge Road. This is ideally situated close to the ring road, while still within walking distance (or a short bus ride away) from the city centre.
This is the first big step towards Spirit of Harmony's long-term future, but we know that more will be needed to keep things fresh and vibrant. We plan to integrate ourselves into the York community as much as possible, so if you're in York we hope to see you around sometime!
