Do I need Previous singing/musical experience?

No - we're open to new recruits from all walks of life, no matter what their experience level.

Do I need to be a music reader?

Absolutely not - most of our members don't read music. We have audio aids which help you to learn songs, and the leadership team assumes no musical knowledge.

Will I be good enough?

Great question! Strangely, despite barbershop being one of the most impressive forms of performance, it is also one of the most accessible. Our coaching is light on jargon, and you'll be given all the support you need.

If you think you can't sing, come anyway! You may just be trying to sing in the wrong range for your voice type - a lot of our basses wouldn't go near a melody line!

Is there an audition?

Yes, but don’t panic! It’s designed mostly to introduce you to what we do, and to ensure that we’re the right fit for each other.
